Odoo in Poland – does it make sense?
Oliwer Bujok

Odoo is a major player in the ERP market, with over 15 million users worldwide.

That's all great, but "the whole world" is one thing, and our Polish backyard is… something else entirely.

True. So:

  • How does Odoo handle KSeF?
  • How does Odoo handle Polish taxes such as JPK_V7 and VAT?
  • Does Odoo integrate with Polish systems such as Przelewy24, BLIK or PayU?
  • Can Odoo connect with couriers operating in Poland, such as InPost or DPD?
  • Is Odoo even available in Polish?

We'll answer these, along with other questions that may have come up while you were researching Odoo, in this article. Let's take a closer look and see whether Odoo actually makes sense in Poland.

Odoo and the Polish tax and accounting system – KSeF, JPK_V7, VAT…

Let's start with what is probably the most important topic, and likely the first thing that comes to mind when you start considering an Odoo implementation in your Polish company: how does Odoo handle the Polish tax and accounting system?

Here we have some good news and some not-so-good news…

Odoo and KSeF

This topic became very hot at the beginning of this year: the ability to use KSeF in Odoo. Currently, Odoo offers a basic KSeF integration, but with customized solutions you can get a great deal out of combining Odoo and KSeF. It's a very broad topic, so I think it's best to simply refer you to this video, which explains feature by feature how you can use Odoo with a dedicated module.

If you'd like to learn more about KSeF in Odoo, we encourage you to read the other KSeF articles on the Solvti blog.

Odoo and JPK_VAT

JPK_VAT in Odoo is possible by installing a module, as standard Odoo doesn't offer this option. An example of such a module, the latest JPK VAT (3) variant, is available in the Solvti store.

I think it's important to point out one key issue right away. A great advantage of Odoo is that it is open source, which makes it possible to implement practically anything you can dream of. The key is not to see this as "an extra chore that has to be done," but as a natural part of projects of this kind, and an opportunity to have a system that works exactly the way you need it to. One of Odoo's biggest strengths is that users from all over the world can create their own improvements to the system, and there are currently more than 60,000 of them.

Odoo and BLIK – fully compatible

BLIK is available in standard Odoo through the Adyen payment gateway.

It works like a regular BLIK payment: after selecting BLIK, the customer enters the 6-digit code from their mobile app, confirms the transaction in their bank, and that's it. This solution is available for Odoo Online as well as Odoo.sh and self-hosted installations.

The fee here is €0.11 + 1.5% of the transaction amount. For comparison, a direct integration with Polish operators (Tpay, Przelewy24) typically costs 1.59% + PLN 0.39. This means Adyen can be more expensive, especially for higher-value transactions, but if you use Odoo Online, it's the only option available.

How does Przelewy24 work in Odoo?

Przelewy24 can also work through Adyen, as well as through other gateways such as Buckaroo, Mollie or Stripe. After choosing Przelewy24, the customer is redirected to the Przelewy24 panel, where they can choose their payment method: bank transfer, BLIK, card or another method. It works in a way customers are already familiar with.

For Odoo Online, the only "out of the box" option for Przelewy24 is again Adyen; there is no direct integration.

With Odoo.sh and self-hosted installations, you can use a direct Przelewy24 integration via third-party modules or integrations set up by an Odoo implementation partner.

For Przelewy24, Adyen charges €0.11 + 2.30% for bank transfers and €0.11 + interchange + 0.60% for cards. A direct Przelewy24 integration costs 1.59% + PLN 0.39 for BLIK and cards. In practice, this means that for Odoo.sh and self-hosted installations, a direct integration is significantly cheaper.

Can Odoo connect with couriers operating in Poland, such as InPost or DPD?

Yes, through third-party modules, and it's simpler than you might think.

Odoo and InPost

To use InPost in Odoo, you need a third-party module, but it's very straightforward. You can find an InPost module of this kind in the Solvti store.

Modules like this streamline the entire process. Odoo lets you automate a great deal, including InPost shipping: for example, automatically creating labels, generating an invoice right after dispatch, or automatically sending an email saying the order has been packed and will be shipped within, say, 4 hours. These modules really get the job done.

Odoo and DPD

To integrate DPD directly with Odoo, you also need an integration module, and there are many ready-made solutions available. Once such a module is installed, Odoo can often take over most repetitive processes: automatically creating a DPD shipment from a sales order, generating labels and tracking numbers, or calculating shipping costs based on DPD rates and saving them in Odoo.

Is Odoo available in Polish?

Odoo has a full Polish translation of its interface.

Once the Polish language is installed, users can work in a fully localized system, from menus and buttons to messages in the Sales, Inventory, CRM and Invoicing apps.

In addition, each user can have their own interface language set individually (e.g., the accountant in Polish, management in English).

In Odoo you can easily edit meta titles and descriptions, URLs, headings and image alt texts, and there's also a preview of how your page will appear in Google.
